2018 State Cup

Looks like the same clubs dominating the first weekend of State Cup: NCFC and CSA both with a large number of teams that advanced. Rapids and TESC were next in line, each with 2 teams advancing. Will probably be the same story with the USYS State Cup starting. Any predictions for which smaller clubs might surprise any of the two big clubs?

Looking by metropolitan area:
Raleigh Durham area is the biggest winner with NCFC, TUSA- 25 teams total playing on finals weekend in USYS and Kepner.
Charlotte area is next with CSA, CR, and Lake Norman- 13 teams
Greensboro- Winston Salem is third with PTFC, TESC, GUSA- 10 teams
Wilmington has 6 teams all from WHYFC.

Wow, NCFC has 3 of 4 teams left in both U14 and U15 boys bracket.. And none of these teams are even the top in the club thanks to DA.

Gotta give another underachiever to the Winston Salem Twins. Not a single team anywhere to be found.

I don't think Fusion had any teams entered in the Cups...

Girls were mostly in the fall, except for U13/14 ages. NCFC and CSA girls were well represented in the U15-U19 ages.

It will be interesting to see how the addition of boys ECNL will impact things next year. Could help open things up more in the State Cup for different clubs.

Sorry, should have said Fusion, GUSA & Twins. Where are all the Fusion boys teams?

If they aren't then they are definitely in the mix.

I saw the 01 B XL team took the win against NCFC, not bad for a team that practices in the dirt in front of XL Soccer World, doesnt have home fields, and the club didnt even provide training fields for the week of state cup. Congratulations to all the State Cup Champions

Looks like two non-DA clubs in the Triad- Winston/Greensboro area did well: PTFC won 3 state cups and Triad Elite won 1. Greensboro United won 0, but they had 2 teams in the semi-finals. Winston Salem Twins nowhere to be found. Fusion had 1 team in the finals but lost. PTFC certainly seems to be the best of the Triad. They win multiple state cups every year! They are not a DA club, but seem to be a strong club!

That was NC Fusion, not NCFC. Don't give them credit for nothing as they get enough attention.
