High School Question

Is there a penalty if a high school team forfeits a match? I once heard there was a fine, but never had that confirmed by anyone in authority.

Yes.

The morbidly obese, redneck AD receives 12 lashes with a Singapore rattan cane.

I'm pretty sure the redneck AD gets a bonus check for not wasting gas on busses for "lesser sports."

Heard recently from a varsity player that the AD wanted both varsity and JV to take a single bus to away games to save money. Basically, that means zero homework time 2-3 nights a week. What you said is not far from the truth @Das. Parents complained and that was put to rest.

What's wrong with saving $$ ??

Quite frankly , it is fiscally irresponsible to take two buses to the same location.

If parents don't like it , they can put their pampered brats in their BMWs and do their own driving.

^^School districts say they cannot put their children in their own vehicles, but they certainly could donate money to the booster club to pay for the extra bus.

It would be fine except it takes a toll on academics....especially when coaches set up 15 vanity games 1 hour away from school to burnish their records.

And on that note, NCHSSA should make a rule limiting number of games HS teams can play out of league. Home and way games should not total more than number of weeks in the season.

Only fine I see that is even close is a removal of a team from the field of play after the match would have been started.

Beyond that, no fine for forfeit before the match begins.

I might be missing something.

my kids do homework on the bus and at the field before (varsity) or after (JV) their games. I have 90% IB students on my roster and have never had a complaint about the bus situation......maybe other kids just dont use their time on the bus and at the field wisely?

They do. You're allowed 22 games to be scheduled. Subtract the amount of conference games you have to play, and there is the number or "out of league" you can schedule.

I think it's a lot. Especially in the Spring season when it's a bit shorter, lots of weather issues and Spring Break.
