IMO some of last nights first round 4a scores are an indication of how wrong and bad the seeding process is

Which is to be changed next year, and hopefully that will correct a lot of it. Also, the 4A tournament will be smaller to reflect the realignment which happens ahead of the next school year.

Yeah, those "upsets" were easy picks. Same as with the boys side every year. Until they figure out a formula for strength of schedule, it won't change.

Tons of upsets in the East and all seeds held in the West. I don't think I've ever seen all the seeds hold on one side in the 1st round.

Not sure if any games in the East were upsets. Looks like in every case where a lower seeded team beat a higher seeded team, the winning team was from the Triangle/CASL area where you have a large youth soccer population, and where the teams in the very competitive conferences might not have the best records, but play tough games during the season so excel in the playoffs.

Will be interesting to see if the seeding scheme next year works any better. Not sure if I have it all straight, but cutting entries from 64 to 48 should reduce some first round mismatches as some of the weaker teams won't make it, but with even the very weak conferences getting 2 automatic bids, not sure if there will be enough slots left to allow the strong teams from the strong Triangle area leagues who finish 3rd or 4th in their conferences and easily beat the conference winners from the weaker conferences to get a slot, even with strength of schedule involved. Would Heritage or Sanderson, both of whom won their first round matches, have qualified if the standards for next year are used?

No chance Garner beats Fuquay. Heritage will beat West Johnston too. Whole mid-table strong conference team vs. high finisher in a weak conference thing. Middle Creek has a decent chance of beating Wakefield. Depends on which MC shows up, the State Finalist or the sleepwalkers.

I'd take Leesville over JH Rose, and FV over Garner.

I did. Agree with your East except for FV over Garner, Heritage over West Johnston. Forgot about Leesville over JH Rose though. Will give it to Wakefield but would not be surprised by Middle Creek win. Agree with the rest of the East picks. I know less than zero about the West so no comments there.

When I said upsets, I meant in seeding only. Sorry if that came off as disrespectful.

Yeah, you can call this the "SWAC and CAP8 Effect". Happens with boys too.

Could be...also, when I said "upsets" I meant it in reference to the seeds...no disrespect to any of the teams

They haven't got it right yet and anyone who thinks they will reward teams for playing a tough in/out of conference schedule is fooling themselves.

Sadly its a reflection of our government in action today no matter who is in charge. Incompetent.

But its the ONLY game in town too....Until kids decide to skip HS ball for club and start hurting the pocket book just expect more bandaids on a mortal wound. I also cannot see as many people willing to jump in there and coach any more.

If you look at next year, strength of schedule is coming into play. So, playing tough out of conference schedules will have more importance

Hurting the pocket book? Have you been to a girls soccer game? I have a feeling even the top programs are losing money since no one attends games. Can you blame them when some conferences charge up to $7 to watch a game? No wonder no one goes until after halftime.
