EPL Final Sunday

TV coverage is amazing. ESPN2, FX, Speed, Fuel and of course Fox Soccer Channel(s).

Man City v QPR is going to be one for the ages. QPR down a man goes up 2-1 with about 28 to go. Joey Barton wins this years Vinnie Jones award for thuggery. Old school anything goes during play and after shown red card.

4 minutes of the stoppage time was due to Barton's idiocy.

Will be interesting to see how long he'll sit next year for actions and then after game comments.

He "earns" an automatic four-game ban for his second red of the season. Add to that the possible extra 5 matches for his assault on Aguero. On top of that, he could also be charged in the Kompany incident, also for failing to leave the pitch.

Then, the suits at the FA could take disciplinary action for his Twitter nonsense. He has already received a warning letter from them over previous tweets and other social media comments, which is now actionable.

Most of the British sites think he is facing 9 -10 games minimum. I think he deserves to be banned for life.

Memo to refs. This is a classic case of why you ISOLATE the offender from everyone else. You pull him away from the crowd gathered around the spot of the infraction and show him the red card AWAY from possible attackers or attackees.....ref's mechanics were very poor...

The FA said in a statement: "The FA has today charged Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton in relation to two acts of alleged violent conduct during Sunday's match against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

"Following the player's dismissal in the 54th minute of the fixture, there followed two incidents involving Manchester City's Sergio Agüero and Vincent Kompany. As Barton had already been dismissed, both of these incidents fell outside of the jurisdiction of the referee."

Brillant, give a player a red card while surround by a bunch of guys that are pissed off at said player and then say the ref couldnt do anything about what happened after that and it was out of his hands at that point? Really?

Two things. 1st, "outside jurisdiction" IMO means what else could the ref do. Yes, he could have separated him prior to issuing red, but the ref did not. Not sure what else you expect of the ref once he delivered the red. Since it's been determined to be "outside the jurisdiction" the FA can now weigh in and kick backside. Which they will. Though article from London today says QPR doesn't want Barton back. One other thing, the CR yesterday per the commentators issued more reds this year in the EPL than any other CR. But he also called more games than anyone else. Experienced guy in EPL ranks.

Joey Barton has been handed a 12-match ban by the FA, and presented with a £75,000 fine ...
