That is why mot D1's have 15-20 verbals.. knowing full well only 5 will be offered money, and the rest being offered a walk on if that, with a best of luck after your freshman yr if you are not cut by end of pre-season.

This is not how a lot of programs work. I know one college told my son it was a four year commitment on their part period so it was a four year offer. I know schollies are yearly renewable. Another school told my son the money would never be less than the original offer and could be more as they hold some money back and give it players as they contribute to program.

From looking at espnrise which list transfers, walk-ons, NLI signees, and self-reported signees, I only see one team, Syracuse, that has 15 recruits for 2011 so your quote "most programs have 15-20 verbals, appears to be a stretch.

I do not doubt that some programs operate as you have cynically stated but I doubt it is most DI programs.

dad,

I think nutter is refering to Women's programs. Western Carolina has 18 commitments for this 2011 incoming class.

I wonder if it makes sense to keep NC and non-NC threads for these commitments?

Admittedly I'm only interested in NC kids. Typically this thread would be for advance notice that a kid has committed.

Or at least it's how it used to be.

I've gotten to where I don't check it, because I don't really care (however unkind that is) about kids from TX and CA and elsewhere.

agreed historically the threads were about where NC kids were going and then some wiggle room as to who was coming to play in NC

Ha, I realize it's not an NC commitment, still, thought a Top 5 player committing was worth passing along.

A link would suffice for those who are interested. I think most of us look here for just the NC commitments; maybe SC too.

The whole point of my original comment (about NC signings) was that anything that's available on a National website is available for anyone who has that interest.

In the past, since the NC players have links to the posters here, the news here was often (most?) times one of the first places it's shared publicly.
