I'm sure Eric is a wonderful trainer, but he had no part of the U19 Lonestars winning the national championship other sitting on the bench watching.
This team had one and only one coach since they were U13 - JD Cochran. ERic was not the coach or the DOC of this team. The credit for this is owed
to the girls and JD. Yes Eric was allowed in the picture because he was there as was the director of the club, but neither of them had ever coached
those girls let alone know their names before they got to Nationals.

And we thought Charlotte soccer parents were high-strung! What's with all these TX people skulking around the NC board? Looks like Eric has gone
from frying pan to fire.

Seems to be an okay guy, but only sat on the bench this year and hasn't ever worked with this group of girls until post season.
I'm sure you're proud of your local boy but give credit where it is due. It goes to the coach who has had this group of girls for several years, and
still making the hard decisions as well as the substitutions and adjustments in the championship game on Sunday.
I have never heard of any preparation for regionals or nationals that wouldn't be considered "post season". Better yet, they are U-19 and unless
Texas is somehow different than the norm, U-19 only has a "post season". These are girls that have come back to their club to play club soccer, most
are probably already playing college soccer.

The GREEN is overflowing in Charlotte! A parent from Texas taking the time to post on the NC Forum, not a chance. Looks like there are some
indivduals who are green with envy. My daughter always thought the world of Eric. He always had a smile on his face and I don't ever recall a time
that he didn't take the time to say hello to me or my wife. He deserves only the best.

On crack? A little harsh no? If he was on the bench all year as an age group DOC I'd say his influence was evident. Whether he was the game coach or
not we were sorry to see him go and glad he is doing well. As with Sean.

Actually, either I'm mellowing in my old age, or you're getting smarter. I've agreed with
you several times recently.

When you are a champion, everyone wants to be involved. Take a look. See Eric in this picture?

One of my daughters had more experience than the other with Eric and the one that did liked him a lot. I thought he had a great demeaner with the
kids. Only had him as a trainer and occasional game coach though at CSC.
Don't have enough experience to say if he was a good game coach or not but I can tell my experiences the last 5-6 years with my kids is that it is
rare to find both a "great trainer" and a "great game coach". Sure there are a few out there but most of them miss it.
I'm still amazed at coaches that have the ignorance to play a player that is physically exhausted over a player that might have some fresh legs off
the bench. The other poor quality demonstrated by a lot of club coaches is the failure to play players in more than 1 position in a game situation.
Sure there might be 1-2 that move around a bit but the majority of the rest rotate through 1 spot. These coaches would tell you they base their
decision on how they practice. Really? Do you really think your getting the same level of play out of every player or see everything in a training
situation against their friends, against their teammates ? Again, always the 1-2 player exception but if you've not played a player in more than 1
spot in a real game situation then you really don't care about developing a player, your more worried about what a parent will say to you when Janie
does not play the spot she was destined to play since birth...
The irony is when the best of the best go play college ball the odds are that a good number of them will play a position they have not played in
years. (keeper being the exception)
I've been in the Charlotte area in Club soccer for over 5 years (10 seasons) and I've watched many games (on the girls side). Games my kids played in
and games they did not. I have full confidence in saying that there are a very small percentage of club coaches the rotate more than 1-2 players at
different positions after about U12.
*end of soapbox*
Glad to see Eric doing well no matter if it was "his team" or not. He treated my kids with respect.

Holy cow everyone, give the guy a break. A Lone Star team won nationals and clearly Eric and Sean (obviously) were involved. Just congratulate them
and move on!
Everyone has coaches they like and dislike - it happens!
Let them savor the accomplishment no matter their direct/indirect involvement.

Spot on Coolsport. This is why the development never happens from U-13 on. The game becomes more about the win for the coach than about the win for
the player. Agree with the ES comments as well. He has always shown the kids respect which is why you will rarely find a kid that doesn't enjoy
being around Coach Stilley. Wish him continued success at Lonestar.
