This is true. The question is do you want the coach driving four hours to a playoff game, getting his team ready, and then going through the emotions of a playoff game and then having to drive back another four hours and get home at midnight or later on a country road? I think you put the players at risk under such conditions and schools should have a policy for at least long-distance playoff games to hire a designated driver to relieve the pressure on the coach. Schools are cruising for a bruising with a coach who falls asleep at the wheel under these conditions.

Not to mention, SOME of those coaches have already worked a full day teaching!!

I have not fallen asleep yet (35 years driving the team bus) .
Assistant coach helps with that, plus keeps the players in line.
Did not have a varsity assistant till the late 80's
Hope each bus has at least 2 adults on it ( I know many don't).
