Pistol Packing Soccer Mom Loses Gun Permit
Officials in Pennsylvania have revoked a woman's concealed-weapons permit because other parents complained that she was carrying her loaded handgun at
her daughter's soccer games.
Meleanie Hain says she's fighting the revocation by the Lebanon County sheriff.
Hain lost the permit and got a warning from local soccer officials after a game on Sept. 11.
Sheriff Michael DeLeo says openly carrying a weapon to a youth soccer match shows a lack of judgment.

Not sure we can discuss this without breaking rules. I will try.
Sounds like she did not break a law. Maybe not the smartest move because of the general anti gun sentiment out there (IMO).
BTW, it is my understanding that the gun laws are similar in NC regarding plain view carry vs. concealed carry. There are other NC rules about
carrying a gun in certain places/events that may prevent carrying a gun to a soccer park.

That article is confusing. She had a concealed weapons permit, but (apparently) wore it w/o being concealed so she lost her license ("lack of
judgement must be a available reason for revocation). Would they feel better if she'd had it there but concealed.
Guns can't be brought into arenas and stadiums, so I'm not sure why they can't be banned from soccer fields.

I have a carry permit for this very reason. I want to carry without drawing attention to my gun. Not sure her motives here. The appearance of guns
can, at times, provoke some.
NC law is wacky in this area. I don't believe soccer fields are specifically mentioned. However, many parks have gun ban signs. Virtually all schools
are "gun-free". Guns are also banned from, state parks, parades, funerals and (I believe) events charging admission.

I believe you are right, unless it was posted, paid to get in or it was on school or government property, she did not break any rules for concealment,
let alone exposed carry. But stupid to say the least.

So the Sheriff revokes her CC permit for poor judgement? Now sure if that will win out in court.

I was curious about that as well. But I presume that when you are given a permit to carry a gun, there is a presumption that you've got the judgement
needed to make wise decisions with it?
It sounds like coach handled it properly and the association asked her not to bring it, but she refused to comply. While her child may be used to the
sight of it, I don't understand an adult who would not comply if she understood that she made 5-6 year olds wonder why she had a gun and made a lot of
people uncomfortable.

There are a ton of hoops you must go through to get a permit. I would not want my permit taken away if I have a disagreement with a few people. I also
understand that it was not the best move on her part. I would not have done what she did. I think she is trying to make a point with the open carry
thing.

I presume so too, but picking another setting that doesn't involve 5/6 year olds would seem to be wiser.

Maybe the AR actually spotted it while she was questioning an offside call

I agree.
Unfortunately, we are in a time when most are not comfortable with the sight of weapons on anyone but law enforcement (some not even that). It is my
opinion that a weapon in the hands of a sane, trained, law-abiding citizen is a good thing.

I think that opinion is formed from your own experiences, and while that might be different than mine, I understand and accept that stance. But, some
might question the "sanity" of feeling like that was an appropriate place to flash the gun in the first place.
But I shouldn't bother to comment (or understand it), I don't even like to bother people with where I put my chair on the sideline....I can't fathom
not just apologizing and leaving it behind the next time.

I think seeing fewer and fewer guns in public leads the public (especially non-gun owners)
to be more and more uncomfortable with this situation. There appears to be some who are (legally) trying to reverse that trend (but not always being
sensitive to the situation).

And then, there are those who would eliminate them altogether, forget that silly second amendment thang
