Soccer Net Death Sparks Recall, Months Later
A type of foldable soccer goal is being recalled after its maker, Regent Sports Corp., received reports of young children getting caught in the net.
In one case, a toddler died after getting his head tangled.
The voluntary recall was expected to be announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. It affects goals sold under the MacGregor and Mitre
brand names that have nets with a 5-inch grid; those with a 4-inch grid are not included in the recall.

It never ceases to amaze me that after so many stories like this, parents still allow their kids to treat soccer goals like jungle gyms.
While this story takes place in a backyard with a small rec goal, but countless times I have seen full-size goals put on the ground for safety
reasons, yet there are 3-4 kids using it like a cargo net while their parents are watching a game.
Let's hope both parents and associations are more vigilant in keeping kids off the goals.

A yahoo article also added "The Chinese-made goals"... article
Cutting corners on soccer nets, 10 year old gymnast competing in the Olympics... wow - I'm sure the list goes on...
